Richard H. Bailey is Chairman and CEO of Pacific Beachcomber, S.C.  With nearly 30 years of experience in the French Polynesia tourism market, Bailey has built Pacific Beachcomber into French Polynesia’s largest luxury hotel and cruise operator and most recently launched The Brando, an environmentally-friendly, luxury resort on the private island of Tetiaroa in July 2014. Bailey is a pioneer in environmental protection and sustainability. His Bora Bora Intercontinental Thalasso Spa and The Brando Resort were  the first two hotels in the world to utilize the innovative, eco-friendly Sea Water Air Conditioning (SWAC) system that uses very cold, deep-sea water for all air-conditioning needs.  The Brando has earned the prestigious LEED Platinum certification designation, the first in French Polynesia to do so, based on the resort’s commitment to conservation and sustainability efforts in the development and overall operation of the pristine island resort.

Born in Lafayette, Louisiana USA, Richard Bailey holds Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees from Stanford University and a Masters of Business Administration from Harvard University.  Bailey is an avid scuba diver, diving throughout French Polynesia.  He also keeps active by cycling, rowing, and riding his Harley Davidson.
