Biography:
I am Joan ROBSON, originally from Tahiti, a child of French Polynesia who was in search of her path.
My journey with Tetiaroa began in 2018 when I had the opportunity to discover the atoll as a volunteer for the rat eradication on Reiono and Tahuna Rahi. This marked the start of a deep connection with Tetiaroa, strengthened by interactions with people dedicated to conservation, restoration, and environmental protection.
From November 2019 to July 2024, I worked at the Institut Louis Malardé, where I was involved in the mosquito population control program on Tetiaroa. This experience was very enriching, but I felt a strong need to be more involved.
Therefore, whenever my schedule allowed, I participated in the rat eradication on Honuea and Onetahi in 2020, and again in 2022. I was also involved in the eradication of yellow crazy ants with some wonderful people. All these experiences have only intensified my desire to be more deeply involved with Tetiaroa Society.
This is why, since joining Tetiaroa Society on August 1, 2024, as an Operations Assistant, I have been managing the rat eradication program part-time and also discovering the other programs of Tetiaroa Society. This role allows me to fully achieve my goal of integrating nature and culture through projects that connect both aspects.
