Interesting facts
These small lagoon fairies are closely linked to living coral and its presence in the lagoon indicates a healthy reef. Territorial and gregarious, this fish forms very dense colonies (up to 100 individuals) when alerted. It is distinct with a almond shape, swallow like tail, and its turquoise blue to pale green color. This damselfish eats plankton and eats phytoplankton and zooplankton and is able to choose between its miniscule prey. It is a very successful hunter that boasts a 90% success rate when hunting.
