The Giant squirrelfish is the largest squirrelfish. It can size up to 18 inches. Its oval body is mostly colored in red, but can take more orange hues. Its head has large eyes with a red spot on the back characteristic of the species. He has the peculiarity of having a long venomous spine at its operculum. A mostly nocturnal species, it goes out at night to hunt small crustaceans and small fish. However it is possible to observe it in the lagoon or on the level of the external slope during the day, in group or alone.
