Interesting facts
Females and juveniles are black with white highlights. Males are a dark blue/violet with orange spots outlined in black. It mostly lives in cavities in the external slope. It is rarely in the lagoon but has been observed in Tetiaroa’s lagoon. it is territorial and rather shy. It lives in couples and consumes a large variety of algae and benthic invertebrates as well as crustacean larvae.
