Interesting facts

This is the biggest triggerfish, and can reach up to 33.5 in (85 cm) long. Its greenish body has a yellow tail with a white throat and caudal peduncle. Its large scales are well defined and powerful dentition that allow it to eat coral, crustaceans, and mollusks as well as echinoderms such as the Acanthaster (enormous sea stars covered in venomous spines). It is able to move large rocks to uncover its prey. This fish is a solitary animal and very aggressive during nesting season. It is present in the lagoons, passes, and external slopes between 3 and 165 feet and is common in Tetiaroa.
