Interesting facts

The knob-horned coral is a red-rose branching coral with “warts” of different sizes. The coral’s skeleton is what gives its color. This coral is present in shallows (between 0-66 feet or 0-20 m), in sheltered areas with clear water. It has a medium growth rate, 0.4-1.6 in/yr (1-4 cm/yr). It feeds itself using symbiotic algae in its tissue that produces food thanks to photosynthesis.
