Spinner dolphins nurse their pups for 24 months. Their diet is comprised of cuttlefish, shrimp, octopus, lantern fish, squids that are hunted at night (at 655-790 ft deep) during dives that can last 15 min. Their jaws contain many teeth, up to 250. Spinner dolphins are very social animals, and form groups of 20 to 25 individuals. They are called spinner dolphins because of their acrobatic tendencies, they can preform jumps up to 10 feet into the air while effectuating up to 7 twists.
